May 2006

  • Decision taken to start a music project for underprivileged children.
    Ven. Chogyal Rinpoche,  Mr. Dawa Tamang (local music teacher) and Ms. Bettina Kuprian look for, find and rent rooms, where the music training can take place.  8 children get trained in playing the violin by Mr. Tamang.
  • Purchase of the first violins (10) donated by Ms. Tina Mukharji, Delhi. Mr. Tamang teaches the first 8 children
  • Various talks to parents in the vicinity of Kalimpong and enrollment of the first interested students (7).
  • Contact with the Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule in Vienna, Austria,  is established and the MPMI is introduced
  • Formation of My Peace Organization Kalimpong as a non-profit organization

2007

  • Rinpoche purchases a strip of land with an unfinished building on top of it and the construction of The My Peace Music Institute starts. The major credits for taking care of the construction work go to Mr. Dawa Tamang
  • Official opening of the My Peace Music Institute by Mr. Hanns Stekel, Director of the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School Vienna, Austria (November 2007)
  • The team of the Bach Music School acts as jury in the first solo-instrumental music competition in the hills and gives a splendid concert in the Himalayan Hotel in Kalimpong: Luis Morais (Geige), Mari Naka (Piano), James Rapport (Double Bass), Hanns Stekel (Violin) play Schubert, Bach, Strauss and others.
  • Talks about the future cooperation of the My Peace Music Institute with the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School.
  • 2 visits to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Vienna, Austria,  who had arranged and organized the trip of the Viennese Music School to Kalimpong as well as the charity concert in the Himalayan Hotel
  • The Johann Sebastian Bach Music School takes a decision in favour of a long-term cooperation with the My Peace Music Institute

 2008

  • first Workshop for guitar und violin  held by teachers of the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School (Mr. Helfried Krainer, Guitar; Mr. Luis Morais, Violin). The workshop had been initiated and organized by MPO Austria
    On the invitation of the Austrian Embassy New Delhi and the Austrian National Tourist Office New Delhi the musicians perform two open-air concerts in Delhi in order to raise funds for the My Peace Music Institute.
  • Appointment of Mr. Balam Gurung as second music teacher in the My Peace Music Institute.
  • Formation of “My Peace Organization Austria” as a non-profit association for the support of the My Peace Music Institute and My Peace Organization Kalimpong
  • Establishing of MPMI website by MPO Austria
  • Visit to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • First study trip of Mr. Dawa Tamang, Director of the My Peace Music Institute, to Vienna, Austria. Teachers of the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School train Mr. Tamang for 2,5 weeks
  • Charity concert in Vienna for the benefit of the My Peace Music Institute.
    The patronage was kindly adopted by H.E. Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Ambassador of India to Austria.
  • Charity events for the My Peace Music Institute in Vienna by Mr. Michael Paulus, Composer, and Ms. Kathrin Honies, Johann Sebastian Bach Music School

2009

  • Decision was taken to work with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London, (ABRSM), the world’s leading provider of graded music exams and assessment
  • Mr. Braganza from Kolkatta pays a visit to the MPMI. He is the representative of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music, London, (ABRSM) in West Bengal. Mr. Braganza finds the MPMI suitable for becoming an ABRSM exam center
  • Visit to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • Donation of an E-Piano by Mr. Karel Gerzicak from Czech Republic
  • Continuation of the construction work in the MPMI:
    • a hall on the second floor, a water tank and toilet, an annex for a library and an additional class-room, a draingage system
  • Charity concert of the Hermann Liszt Music School and the Music High School Szekesfehervar in Hungary in Vienna. The concert was organised by the J.S.Bach Music School Vienna and aimed at raising money for a second E-Piano for the MPMI
  • 16.09.2009: The first exams – held by two examiners of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music London – take place at the MPMI. All students pass with flying colors, 11 students pass with distinction! Hurrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :))
  • Toilet and hall are completed

2010

  • First concert ever in the newly built hall on February 17th. The invited guests consisted of MPMI’s founder Ven. Chogyal Rinpoche and  family members,   about 30 fellow graduates of Rinpoche, who just had completed their studies at the S.D.V. Buddhist Research & Educational Institute, Ms. Bettina Kuprian, chairwoman MPO Austria and other visitors from the US and Germany
  • The MPMI youth orchestra performed three classical pieces of music as part of the cultural programme of the first graduation ceremony in the S.D.V.   Buddhist Research & Educational Institute in Kalimpong (Feb. 24th) . The audience consisted of H.H. Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, venerable monks and nuns and several hundred invited guests.
  • Visit to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • Set up of the MPMI facebook page by MPO Austria
  • Ms. Sandra Fuerthauer, J.S. Bach Music School, taught rhythmics and piano at the MPMI for 4,5 weeks.
  • Mr. Florin Pasku from Vienna repaired the MPO computer and assisted the MPMI staff in various matters.

2011

  • 2 visits to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • MPMI Logo by Karin Trenkler, Vienna

2012

  • The principal of the MPMI, Mr. Balam Gurung, passed away. A puja was performed together with the students at the MPMI
  • Visit to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • On the initiative of MPO Austria, Ms. Carmen Klug from Tübingen, Germany, joined the team of the MPMI for a period of 8 months. Carmen worked on organizational and office matters

 2013

  • Ms. Albina Rai starts her job assignment with the MPMI as Office Manager. Furthermore she caters for the students needs and takes care of other organizational matters (part-time).
  • Mr. Dawa Sangpo joins as night-watchman of the MPMI, he lives at the institute and takes violin and piano lessons as well
  • Mr. Dawa Tamang, board member and director of the MPMI leaves
  • First student successfully passes the grade 5 exam in violin (Ms. Bikita Chettri).

2014

  • Two teachers join the MPMI (Mr. Rudra Biswakarma and Mr. Yaman Gathani)

2015

  • MPMI Founder, Ven. Chogyal Rinpoche, visits the MPMI
  • Ms. Roshni takes over the office support from Ms. Albina
  • Mr. Nima Sherpa joins,  Mr. Yaman Gathani quits
  • Ms. Bikita Chettri passes Grade 6 and  Mr. Dawa Sangbo Grade 5 in violin

2016

  • MPMI Founder, Ven. Chogyal Rinpoche, visits the MPMI  and gives a public lecture as well as a meditation class for the MPMI students
  • Mr.  Dawa Tamang returns to the MPMI as chairman
  • Visit to the MPMI by Ms. Bettina Kuprian, Chairwoman MPO Austria
  • Construction work in the garden

2017

  • Introduction of evening tuition classes  for the MPMI students
  • Ongoing construction work in the garden (water pipes, drain)
  • Mr. Martin Kruska, a school teacher from Germany, visits the MPMI and works with the students for 2 weeks in April
